Pierre Castignola
French-born designer Pierre Castignola (1995) graduated Cum Laude from the Design Academy in 2018. Grounded in the conceptual his work offers a surprising, sometimes surrealist outcome. His conceptual focus being on the perceptions of the world, with a strong fascination for semiotics and symbols to lead to a radical and critical design. He sets out to redefine the model of creation and consumption. He is currently based in The Netherlands.

Pierre Castignola's current series, Copytopia, investigates and questions the legitimacy of Intellectual Property by reappropriating one of the most common object of our surrounding : the infamous monobloc plastic lawn chair. Using different models of this chair as raw material that he cuts and re-assemble together, the final outcome overstepping on various copyrights while adding the one of the ar tist pushes to wonder who owns its intellectual property.
