Work Underground Table

Underground Table

$0.00

J McDonald

52H × 30W × 20D in / 74H × 81W × 82D cm

Wood, Lime Plaster, Chrome Plated Steel, Glass

Unique

The 'Underground Collection' in general is highly influenced by geology - caves, geodes, eroded formations and secrets that inhabit the voids in the earth so often thought of as a solid surface - but this table particularly so. The rough textured plaster exterior gives it a highly tactile, natural feel in contrast to the smooth, reflective top. The form terminates in a clean metal edge which supports hand shaped glass. The intricate textures of the burnished plaster interiors draw our eyes through the glass, deep into the piece like the ocean or the night sky. A coffee cup, a book, a plant placed on top seems to float above the void. The experience of picking up your coffee cup is transformed into a cosmic journey.
