This unique side chair is crafted from ash timber, with a reclaimed hand embroidered tapestry seat. Inspired by the fetishisation of joints and intricate construction in the making of craft timber art, the timber sections are shaped into an interlocking pattern of cubes making a decorative elements of the joints running all along the lengths of chair. The seat is made from reclaimed completed tapestries kits dating from the 1970s and to the 1990s, which represent the dream of craft in popular imagination - and its connect to kitsch - as well as the commercialisation of hand cratt. Each of these kits presumably would have taken hundreds or hours to complete, and thus nods to the meticulous and laborious process that goes into fabricating this chair.
